Idiopathic Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss

This is an unexplained, rapid loss of hearing thought to involve reduced oxygen supply to the inner ear. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is FDA-approved as an adjunct — typically when corticosteroids alone fail — reversing cochlear hypoxia and reducing endolymphatic fluid pressure to improve the chance of hearing recovery.
