Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Carbon monoxide poisoning starves tissues of oxygen by binding haemoglobin and disrupting cellular respiration. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy, FDA-approved for this use, rapidly displaces CO from haemoglobin and cytochrome oxidase, restores oxygen delivery, and helps prevent the delayed neurological effects that can follow serious exposures.
